The 17th China Beijing International High-Tech Expo (CHITEC) was inaugurated on May 14 at the Beijing International Exhibition Center and it lasted for five days. The theme for the automobile pavilion was “Automotive Technology and New Energy Technologies”. Under the theme of “Your Wish, Our Ways”, the Beijing Automotive Group (BAIC Group) including its subsidiaries Beijing Auto, Changhe Auto, BAIC Electric Vehicle and Beiqi Foton Motor, as well as its joint-venture brands, Beijing Benz and Beijing Hyundai, etc. showcased a lineup of 22 finished vehicles, core automotive parts assembly, new technologies and materials, electric vehicles chassis, etc.

The BAIC Group booth showcased a lineup of core models such as Senova A315 and the A5 Series (A520T/A523T), Senova A320T, and X424, and others. Furthermore other models such as Changhe Liana A6 and BAW Dahaishi MB55 were also exhibited and they demonstrated the vast lineup of BAIC proprietary brands in the sector of passenger and commercial vehicles; the new energy products such as Senova EV electric vehicles, A1 EV, and Foton Auman natural gas prime movers and more, fully demonstrated the strength of the BAIC Group in the area of electric vehicles, energy conservation and environmental protection.

On the 17th, Xu Heyi, BAIC Group Chairman accompanied Guo Jinlong, Beijing Municipal Committee Secretary and Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, together with leaders of the Beijing Foreign Affairs Office, Beijing Commission of Transport and CCPIT Beijing, etc to visit and walkabout the BAIC Group booth. Guo Jinlong spoke highly of the achievements of the BAIC Group in the realm of electric vehicles development. He noted that BAIC Group is not only leading the trend in the future development of the automotive industry but is also making significant contributions to reduce vehicle emissions and improve the air quality in the capital.

The BAIC Group will be providing conference vehicles for the 2014 APEC meeting that will be held in October this year at the Beijing Yanqi Lake. The fleet of vehicles will include electric vehicles, Senova automobiles, and Foton automobiles, etc that were showcased during the recent CHITEC. No efforts will be spared in convoying to ensure a successful APEC meeting.
