On September 10, BAIC Group’s chairman Xu Heyi attended the 2014 Summer Davos Forum which was held in Tianjin, China, and focused on the theme of “Creating Value Through Innovation.” Xu Heyi expressed the belief that reform and innovation are the driving force behind the development of new trends, technological innovations and the future of the automotive industry. In his speech, Xu Heyi stated that the three trends of “intelligence, electronics and lightweight” would drive innovations in the field of the auto industry.

Currently, the automotive industry is experiencing a new trend in which R & D focuses on the internet and vehicle networking technology. As Xu Heyi pointed out, this will lead to a new era of “automotive intelligence,” encompassing intelligent vehicles that help optimize power, comfort, safety and fuel consumption. These key developments, which have a great impact on eco-friendliness, are in line with China’s science and technology development plan and point to the future of vehicle development. Earlier this year, Xu Heyi announced that a major breakthrough in the development of BAIC’s new energy vehicles would be achieved. 2014 will mark the point where the pure electric car will find its way into many families. Moreover, he noted that BAIC Group is currently working with well-known experts and organizations to achieve another breakthrough in the development of a new generation of lightweight vehicles.
